About Us

The Bath Shirt Co business all started from an exhausted Mum who had absolutely no energy left in the tank when it came to bath time.

Going right back to the start of our parenting journey, nothing went to plan or turned out the way we had hoped right from beginning. Add in PCOS, endometriosis and a FIFO husband getting pregnant was the first challenge.

Then come delivery time our OB unfortunately had a brain aneurysm 4 days before our due date and was put into an induced coma. The next week the entire country was put into lockdown (thanks covid), baby blues had hit mega hard, breastfeeding was excruciating and to top it off WA announced that they were enforcing a hard border to QLD.

Hubby had to choose between losing his job and leaving his family for an unknown length of time. Fast forward 6 months of being separated from each other we relocated our family to Perth.

Now anyone who has kids knows that the days can be long and the nights can be longer. Being home alone to do it all was just pure exhausting and this is where the idea of a bath shirt was sparked from.

I would pour water over my child's back continuously to try and keep them warm. (Perth is so much colder than North QLD) I would lay a wet washer on their back which they would just keep pulling off. I would crank the heater right up until one day I didn't even have enough energy to lift my arm up. I was tired.

Later that night an idea popped into my head. I wondered if a hole in the middle of a nappy cloth would act as a "hooded towel" (without the hood). This idea served the purpose of maintaining body heat but wasn't easy to use so this is where we hit the drawing board and came up with the design we have now. We trialed many different designs and fabrics to ensure we ticked all of the boxes and we are super proud of what we have created.

Before starting The Bath Shirt Co I had a lot of doubts about going into business with this new product and whether or not it would be successful. I decided to jump into it and give it a go. I thought at the very least I have a product that I know and love and it solves my problem so that is a win for me. If the business doesn't succeed my initial why and problem associated with the bath shirt is solved. However, I do have to say I have been blown away with the feedback and the number of customer's placing multiple bath shirt orders. This just makes me so proud that I am able offer a practical product that helps other parents with bath-time.
